Airport becomes shopping mall for one night
For one night airport will open its shops to the public, turning the place into a full-blown shopping mall.
On Wednesday 11 December, for one night only, the airport will open its shops to the public, turning the place into a full-blown shopping mall housing some of the world's best retail brands.
It's all happening on Wednesday from 8pm until midnight.
Shoppers will first have to collect a boarding pass from the check-in hall and make their way through security screening like they are about to catch a flight.
They can then enjoy a huge selection of high-street and designer brands including Hugo Boss, Lacoste, Butterfly Twists, L'Occitane, Guess, Billabong, O'Neill and Fiorelli.
Special offers will also be available on everything from chocolates and spirits, to perfumes, jewellery, watches and other accessories.
"The airport is a great place to do your Christmas shopping. We've got some huge brands and lots of gift and travel pack options for perfume and make-up that are only available at duty-free shops," said George Mallia, Head of Retail and Property at Malta Airport. "If you love shopping, this is an event not to be missed."
Shoppers will also be treated to a live concert by the Big Band Brothers, while kids will be kept entertained with face-painting and other activities, including the opportunity to meet Santa and his elves.
Meanwhile, visitors who spend more than €75 will get the chance to win a new BMW 3 Series Convertible as part of the Grand Airport Shopping Lottery.
One lucky Facebook fan will also get €1,000 to spend on the night by participating in the Enter to Win competition on www.facebook.com/maltairport.
So book the date, bring your friends and get ready to shop till your feet hurt. And if you don't find what you're looking for, you're only a gate away from London, Paris or Milan...
