Maltese-Israeli convention enters into force

Governments of both countries have finalised the ratification process on the convention for the avoidance of double taxation and prevention of fiscal evasion.

Following the signing of the Convention for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with respect to Taxes on Income between Malta and Israel on 28 July 2011, the Government of Malta is pleased to announce that the ratification process is now finalised by both countries, meaning that the provisions of the Convention have come into force.

The ratifiction process was discussed during Prime Minister Joseph Muscat's official visit to Israel, the first such visit by a Maltese Head of Government to the country.

The Convention's ratification is instrumental in further improving bilateral relations between Malta and Israel. In welcoming this positive development, Muscat expressed his confidence that this constituted a further step in the consolidation of the very good relations between Malta and Israel, which will result in immediate benefits to the investors of the two countries.
