Student engagement and student success discussed in Domain conference
Seminars seeks dialogue between different members in educational community in Malta
Domain Group has promoted a number of education-specific events aimed at establishing and maintaining high standards of learning and teaching for students and teachers alike.
The latest initiative by Domain Group invites College Principals, Directors of Study, Heads of Schools, teachers, learning support assistants (LSAs) and individuals interested in teaching and education to a series of seminars dealing with approaches and methods on teaching within various levels of the educational sphere.
A seminar will be held on Friday the 31st of January at 6pm at Domain Group, Mosta, where Professor John Portelli shall discuss 'Student Engagement and Student Success: A Reality or Myth?' and address a number of issues linked to the classroom.
Prof. Portelli is a renowned speaker and researcher within the field of education, a faculty member at the University of Toronto, and a member of the Domain Group Board of Trustees.
These seminars seek to create a dialogue between different members within the educational community in Malta and bring together different stakeholders. Issues that exist both on a national and international scale shall be addressed and discussed; the different meanings of engagement and student success will be clarified, and the relationship between the two explored. While student success and student engagement are crucial for meaningful learning, do we fully understand the different and competing forms that both success and student engagement embody? Do we consider diverse learning styles and abilities as a hindrance? Does standardization lead to success and engagement for all?
Domain Group is a strong believer and proponent of sharing of best practices amongst educators as the more knowledge sharing takes place, the more the student will benefit.
