'Gozo at heart of country’s economic growth’ – Cardona
Ongoing discussions for the development of an SME park in Gozo.
The Labour government was determined to place Gozo at the heart of the country's economic growth, Economy Minister Chris Cardona said today.
The minister today was in Gozo visiting a number of SMEs, factories and constituted bodies.
In a meeting with the Gozo Business Chamber, Cardona said it was encouraging that established businesses in Gozo were planning to invest in their operations, leading to an increase in job opportunities.
The minister said the government would be holding a series of meeting with entrepreneurs who are interest in expanding their operations or set up shop in Gozo.
A number of similar meetings took place today in the GBC's offices.
Gozo Minister Anton Refalo said that investment in Gozo could not occur with investment in infrastructure, including improvement in transport networks.
Discussions were ongoing for the development of an SME park in Gozo. The SME park, 7,800 square metre, will be holding 39 enterprises.
The government was also working to develop a business centre of excellence, funded through the 2014-2020 EU funds.
