Fifteenth easyJet aircraft at SRT aviation park
SR Technics welcomed the 15th easyJet aircraft to the new two-bay facility in Malta, to be delivered to Malta by the end of March after a 14-day standard maintenance check.
Since October 2010 easyJet has built up its operation in Malta as a centre of excellence for narrowbody aircraft base maintenance in Europe.
SR Technics has been performing three maintenance checks per month on easyJet’s Airbus A319 aircraft. All aircraft have been delivered on schedule with the same turnaround time of 14 days as is usually provided in Zurich.
SR Technics provides premium MRO services, using a two-bay hangar at Safi Aviation Park employing 150 people and has started to market its capacities to third parties.
Minister of Finance, the Economy and Investment, Tonio Fenech welcomed the news. “This is providing an important contribution to our country’s objective to reach excellence status in the field of aviation maintenance, which is also becoming a healthy contributor to job creation. Indeed, the 150 jobs created so far by SR Technics in Malta mean that the aviation maintenance sector employs more than a 1,000 people. The Government is committed to support the further expansion of the aviation industry."
James Stewart, Chief Executive Officer at SR Technics said: “We are very proud to have established such a high-performance team of mostly local people. They have worked hard to deliver all aircraft on schedule and in line with the industry leading quality standards SR Technics is renowned for. We look forward to providing continued support to easyJet throughout their ongoing development.”
Warwick Brady, Group Operations Director of easyJet said: “The first 15 aircraft are the first of many in our strategic long-term partnership with SR Technics, and I congratulate everyone involved in this achievement. We’re looking forward to seeing the evolution of this facility to achieve 'best in class' in the industry.”
