Banif Bank takes part in Earth Hour
On Saturday night, Banif Bank (Malta) plc switched off the external signage of its branches around Malta and Gozo, participating in Earth Hour.
Earth Hour is a global event organised by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), held annually on the last Saturday of March. The global event invites households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights and other electrical appliances for one hour to raise awareness on the need to take action on climate change.
In its statement, Banif Bank said it is committed to the environment and wants to make a statement against climate change. “As a Group, Banif Bank is aware of the major challenges that climate change presents around the world and is active in promoting solutions,” the statement said.
Banif Financial Group said Earth Hour has defined objectives both internally and externally. “Internally, the participation was intended to alert all employees to the need to reduce energy consumption in the workplace and at home.
“On an external level, the aim was to show to society the determination of the Group in reducing its environmental impact in line with its Environmental Policy,” it said.
