Italians file judicial protest against Stanleybet Malta over unpaid winnings

Nine Italian nationals have filed a judicial protest against Malta-based sports betting company Stanleybet Malta calling on them to pay out €848,599 in winnings.

In a judicial protest filed in the Civil Courts and signed by lawyers Andrew Zammit and Ann Bugeja, the Italian nationals said that they were giving Stanleybet Malta five days to pay out their winnings.

The Italians – Bruna Bruschi, Antonietta Castrogiovanni, Natale Russo, Paolo Sganga, Vincenzo Poziello, Emiliano Santini, Andrea Federici, Davide Della Porta and Pietro Angeloni – claim that they purchased a number of tickets from a shop in Rome that sold Stanleybet Malta betting services.

They claimed that attempts to redeem their winnings proved futile with Stanleybet Malta, and only received a letter from an Italian lawyer saying that the European Sport Security Association (ESSA) had initiated “formal investigations.”

However, the Italians said that from information they received, any investigation by the ESSA has been exhausted.

They called on Stanleybet Malta to payout the winnings within five days or face further legal action.
