Greek supertanker choses Palumbo shipyards for repair

One of the largest ships ever to come to Malta has chosen the Palumbo Malta Shipyard to perform maintenance works.

The Great Lady, a Greek-flagged supertanker, was built in 2005 and is 338 metres long, 58 metres wide and weighs 250,000 tons.

It came in for general maintenance works and a stop of 15 days from Friday, August 5, at the Palumbo Malta Shipyard. After only two months of the yards’ privatization, Palunbo chairman Antonio Palumb said the investment to redevelop and improve the site and raise standards to optimize working time, will prove the success of the Palumbo Shipyard.

“The company will reverse the negative trend of unreliability of yards due to management problems, recovering the historical expertise and the considerable potential that Malta has had in the recent past,” Paumbo said
