Nabil Elaraby is known primarily for his current role as Secretary General of the League of Arab States. He also played a significant role in Egypt during the Arab Spring, participating in a group of 30 high-profile Egyptians who acted as liaisons between Egyptian protesters and the government, and pressed for the removal of President Hosni Mubarak. Following Mubarak's removal, Elaraby served as Foreign Minister of Egypt in Essam Sharaf's government from March to June 2011.
