GDP for the second quarter of the year up by 3.9% from 2009
Statistics published by the National Statistics Office (NSO) indicate an increase of 6.8% in Malta’s Gross Domestic Product when compared to the same time last year.
Estimates suggest that total GDP for the second quarter of the year amount to €1,513.4 million, increasing by 3.9% in real terms from last year.
The growth in value added was generated by the following economic activities; financial intermediation; other community services; hotels and restaurants; electricity, gas and water supply; construction; manufacturing sector; education; health; real estate, renting and business activities; public administration and wholesale and retail trade.
Decline in value added was registered, in agriculture and fishing; mining and quarrying and transport, storage and communication.
