7.7% increase in local industrial production
Malta among EU countries with greatest growth in industrial production
Eurostat figures reveal that Malta is among the EU countries to register the greatest increase in industrial production, compared to last year.
“Local industrial production in July saw a 7.7% increase, compared to the same month in 2014,” a government statement reads.
The statement further points out that a recent NSO statistic had even shoed that industrial production in July was 7.1% higher than the same month last year.
“Industrial production increased by 1.9% in the Eurozone, which means that locally, the figure was four times that registered in the rest of the Eurozone,” the statement reads.
The government added that these figures were also comparable to the rate of economic growth Malta had registered compared to Eurozone countries.
“These statistics also show that local industrial production is higher than it was last year, and that it has been increasing since the beginning of the year.”
The government added that although it welcomed these results, it would continue to strive to ensure that companies in the country continue to improve and provide more employment opportunities and income for Maltese families.
