Car importers Gasan Enterprises to plant 1,000 trees

Latest green initiative that confirms Gasan Enterprises Ltd’s long standing commitment to environmental issues.

Gasan Enterprises Ltd understands that energy saved is energy generated - a cornerstone concept for today’s environmentally aware customer. This month sees the launch of the most recent 34U initiative at the Gasan showroom in Mriehel. Through this initiative 2,000 trees will be planted at dar Frate Jacobe in Wied il- Ghajn, currently the only proper practitioners of sustainable living and permaculture in Malta.

The company is providing clients with the opportunity to contribute towards a greener environment by planting a tree to offset the carbon footprint produced by the vehicle’s emissions while supporting sustainable living and permaculture.

Permaculture is an approach to designing agricultural systems that mimic the relationships found in natural ecologies, making it self-sustainable,” said David Gasan, Managing Director of Gasan Enterprises Ltd.  “With a little more help, the people at Dar Frate Jacobe can realise the change they are working so hard to see in the world – energy efficient, sustainable living.”

“We are delighted to be implementing this,” remarked Mr. Gasan, “I have no doubt that we will see a great response to this initiative and I look forward to seeing the end result.”

This is the latest green initiative that confirms Gasan Enterprises Ltd’s long standing commitment to environmental issues. The company was the first car importer locally to support the Clear Air 34U campaign back in 2007 and still believes that as a car importer, it is duty bound to contribute its share towards offsetting carbon emissions created by cars. Gasan Group’s green credentials are also on the rise as the Group’s building is currently equipped with photovoltaic panels.

On an international level Ford Motor Company is currently investing in home smart – grid technology that will link home utilities and vehicles to further reduce energy use. Ford Motor Company’s Ka model, which is very popular locally, has amongst the lowest CO2 outputs in its segment. In the UK Ford Motor Company also launched the ECOnetic series with Fiesta ECOnetic and Focus ECOnetic. With clever modifications both models have become two of the most fuel-efficient family cars. Not only do they both deliver outstanding fuel economy but they also both have incredibly low CO2 emissions of just 98 g/km and 99g/km respectively. Volvo, also represented by Gasan Enterprises Ltd locally, has recently invested in the new Volvo DRIVe range – which offers dramatically reduced CO2 levels and improved fuel efficiency in seven models.
