Industrial producer price index up 0.46% in September

During September, the producer price index for total industry rose by 0.46 per cent to 94.31 points. 

Provisional data indicate that the industrial producer price index in September 2015 increased by 0.46 per cent over the previous month.

During September, the producer price index for total industry rose by 0.46 per cent to 94.31 points. Prices for intermediate goods increased by 1.24 per cent and by 0.39 per cent within capital goods. Consumer goods prices decreased by 0.43 per cent. Energy prices remained constant.

Prices within the domestic market increased by 0.54 per cent . This was due to an increase within intermediate goods by 1.56 per cent, capital goods by 1.1 per cent and by 0.02 per cent in consumer goods.

Prices for the non-domestic market rose by 0.39 per cent as prices in respect of goods destined for the euro area and non-euro area increased by 0.42 and 0.37 per cent respectively.

On an annual basis, the industrial producer price index went down by 2.56 per cent when compared to 2014. The downturn resulted from price decreases in energy (14.02 per cent) and intermediate goods (3.12 per cent). On the other hand, prices within capital and consumer goods rose by 2.11 and 1.27 per cent respectively.

Producer prices for the domestic market decreased by 3.40 per cent, mainly on account of a dropinpricesforenergy(14.02percent). Priceincreaseswererecordedincapitalgoods (4.6 per cent), intermediate goods (1.23 per cent) and consumer goods (0.78 per cent)

Non-domestic prices declined by 1.93 per cent, resulting from decreases of 2.10 per cent and 1.63 per cent within the non-euro and the euro area respectively.
