GO statement on termination of Waldonet services
Waldonet internet subscribers have been invited to migrate to GO plc, after the internet service provider was cut off from all data services by GO earlier this week.
In a statement, GO referred to the announcement made yesterday by Waldonet Ltd regarding the termination of its ADSL and internet services, and stated that the current situation is the result of a recent ruling made the given by the Commission of Fair Trading in favour of GO.
“Waldonet owes GO substantial amounts of money, and such debts have accumulated over the past years,” GO plc said in a statement.
It added that despite GO’s best efforts over the past years to negotiate with Waldonet payment programmes for the sums overdue, such negotiations have failed.
“This situation has been ongoing and over the years GO has desisted from taking action given the ongoing judicial process. GO has always cooperated with the competent authorities on the matter.”
On 21 October 2010, GO informed Waldonet that if they fail to pay the amounts owed, the provision of such services would be terminated in line with the contractual obligations established between the two parties, and in line with the ruling.
As stated by Waldonet itself, all Waldonet customers already make use of GO’s ADSL and fibre and therefore customers opting for GO’s reliable ADSL and internet services will have relatively seamless transition of their services.
Meanwhile, GO stressed that it is doing its utmost to minimise any inconvenience for customers wishing to subscribe directly with GO.
