HSBC Malta to appoint new Chief Operating Officer

HSBC Bank Malta p.l.c. announced the appointment of Nikolaos Fertakis as Chief Operating Officer at a date still to be determined, subject to regulatory approval.

He will be replacing Decca Fung-Chu Fan who will be moving to a new senior position within HSBC Group.

Fertakis currently resides in Greece. He has over 20 years of experience in the banking sector with specialization in Information Systems and Operations.

In 2011 he joined HSBC in Greece initially assuming the duties of the IT Director, and two years later was promoted to the role of Head of IT Operations International Europe.

Since early 2014 he was appointed Chief Operating Officer of the HSBC's operations in Greece.
