Sigma coatings Malta inaugurates new equipment

Sigma Coatings (Malta) Ltd, the island’s biggest supplier of paints and coatings, has just inaugurated its new plant and equipment, which was acquired as part of a major investment in its production facilities. The project is in line with the company’s three-year strategic plan to focus on constantly improving quality.

“We are always looking for ways to deliver better value and service to our clients,” company Chairman Mr Anthony Critien said.

“This new machinery will allow for greater capacity and efficiency, improved quality, and an even safer working environment.”
 
Sigma Coatings, which has been producing paint in Malta from 1983, was originally primarily focused on the Marine and Protective Coatings market, with a rich history in supplying ships dry docking in Malta. Over the years, it has also developed into the local leader in the decorative sector, with a strong network of independent hardware stores across the islands stocking Sigma paints.

Internationally, the Sigma brand is now part of the world’s paint and coatings leader, PPG, an American Fortune 500 company whose stated mission is ‘to protect and beautify the world’.

“We produce and distribute our paints under licence to PPG, which means that we uphold the highest global standards in everything we do, including the sourcing of the best-quality raw materials,” Sigma’s Managing Director,  Patrick Tabone explained.

“We work hand-in-hand with PPG in a wide range of areas, and are happy to welcome senior PPG colleagues with us today for this unveiling.”

Present for the launch were Mr Guus Duray, General Manager Architectural Paints EMEA, and Mr David Heal, Regional Marine and Protective Coatings Director for Western Europe.
