Industrial producer price index decreases by 1.62%

Industrial producer price index decreases by 1.62% in March 2016 compared to the corresponding month in previous year.

On an annual basis, the industrial producer price index went down by 1.62 per cent when compared to 2015, according to NSO data.

The data showed that the downturn resulted from price decreases in energy (14.02%, and on the other hand, prices within capital, consumer and intermediate goods rose by 0.73, 0.35 and 0.01 per cent respectively.

Figures show that producer prices for the domestic market decreased by 3.33%, mainly on account of a drop in prices for energy (14.02%) while price increases were recorded in intermediate goods (1.59%), consumer goods (1.51%) and capital goods (1.10%).

NSO added that non-domestic prices decreased by 0.39% due to drops registered both within the euro area (0.58%) and the non-euro area (0.28%).

According to statistics, in March, the producer price index for total industry declined by 0.34%, prices for intermediate goods decreased by 0.64% and by 0.18% within consumer goods while energy and capital goods prices remained constant.

Domestic market prices increased by 0.04%, due to a rise in prices within consumer goods by 0.12%, the NSO added.

Figures show that prices for the non-domestic market decreased by 0.61% due to drops registered both within the euro area (0.09%) and the non-euro area (0.91 %).
