Number of guests in collective accommodation increases by 9.7%
The largest share of nights spent was reported in 4-star hotels
In March, the total number of guests staying in collective accommodation increased by 9.7%, and the number nights spent increased by 11.6% when compared to the corresponding month in 2015.
The National Statistics Office reports that the largest share of nights spent was reported in 4-star hotels, accounting for 51.8% of the total.
The average length of stay in these establishments went up from 5.1 nights in March 2015 to 5.2 nights in March of this year. The net use of bed-places increased 3.4% when compared to the corresponding month in 2015, reaching 56%.
Across the country, there were 158 active collective accommodation establishments during March.
Calculating from the beginning of the year, the number of guests during the first three months of 2016 came to 293,768, an increase of 6.4% over the first three months of 2015. Total nights spent went up by 7%, reaching 1.5 million. The net use of bed-places advanced by 0.5 percentage points to 47.3%.
