Rat infestation at BOV Preluna Towers branch
Union directs bank employees not to report for work at the branch until the infestation is tackled • Bank notifies customers that branch will be closed until further notice
Staff at the Bank of Valletta branch within the Preluna Towers in Sliema have been instructed by their union not to report for work because of a rat infestation on the property.
The General Workers’ Union (GWU) issued the directive in line with safety and security standards in order to safeguard the health of employees and bank clients alike.
The union said in a statement that BOV management recognised the nature of the problem and confirmed that all the necessary steps would be taken to solve this issue as quickly as possible.
In a separate statement, BOV said that its Preluna Towers branch would be closed for business from Wednesday until further notice.
It said it decided to close the branch early on Tuesday in order to conduct the necessary works to address this issue and that it had undertaken various initiatives to safeguard the safety and well-being of its staff and customers.
The bank said it would be keeping its customers informed of developments and apologised for any inconvenience caused.
