Malta’s GDP growth second highest in EU
Economic growth figures released by the EU statistical agency for the third quarter put Malta in second place after Romania
With GDP growth standing at 7.7% in the third quarter, Malta’s was the second fastest growing economy, figures out today show.
Average growth across the EU stood at 2.6% in the third quarter, according to Eurostat, the EU’s statistical agency.
Romania, with GDP growth of 8.6% topped the chart, followed by Malta. Third in line was Latvia with growth at 6.2%.
The Eurostat figures come a day after the National Statistics Office reported third quarter growth at 7.7%, which is a record for this time of the year. Growth in the first quarter stood at 6.1% and that in the second quarter at 7.7%.
