€100,000 fund for entrepreneurial education in schools

Government has announced a scheme that will place a €100,000 fund at the disposal of Public Schools, Private Schools, and Church Schools for projects and initiatives that will educate children about business.

Launched by Education Minister Dolores Cristina and Parliamentary Secretary for SMEs Jason Azzopardi on Wednesday, the fund will be open to Public, Private, and Church schools - and attempt to introduce children to the concepts of entrepreneur ship.

Speaking during the launch, Cristina said that the importance for individuals to be enterprising should be emphasised, and that this scheme represents a concrete opportunity to provide Maltese schoolchildren with an enterprising education.

She said that this would mean that students are better equipped to translate thier ideas into concrete action through creative, innovative channels, along with the courage to take risks and the aptitude to create projects and propel them forwards.

During his own address, Azzopardi said that through the scheme, government is further investing in small businesses, and that it is represents a long-term investment which will bear fruit in the future.
