Playmobil announces 7% growth worldwide

International toymaker Playmobil announced an overall growth of 7% in 2010, making it Germany’s second largest toy seller.

The company revealed its results during a press conference held at company headquarters in Zirndorf, Germany.

Managing Director Andrea Schauer said that rising sales figures can be attributed to new products launched in 2010 as well as the strategic decision to target year round sales.

Ten Playmobil products have been listed in the top fifty toys sold in Germany last year by marketing research institute npggroup.

Malta Marketing Manager Anna Agius stated that the Malta plant was “proud to be part of this success story.”

Playmobil Malta is the exclusive producer of Playmobil’s figures, found in almost every package worldwide. Some 100 million figures were produced by the local plant in 2010. 2.4 billion made-in-Malta Playmobil figures have been made since 1974.
