Fenech heads to Brussels for EU Stability Pact and Euro-rescue meetings
Finance Minister Tonio Fenech will be joining Eurozone partners later today in Brussels for discussions within the EU’s Council of Finance Ministers (ECOFIN), and Eurozone over a refined Pact for Growth and Stability.
In a statement, the ministry said that European ministers will be discussing regulations pertaining to the prevention and corrective measures of the Stability and Growth Pact.
The ministers will also discuss the regulations that will govern the effective enforcement over the budget management within the Eurozone.
These measures, it added, are intended to strengthen fiscal consolidation of the EU’s member states so that similar crisis can be avoided in future.
He was accompanied by parliamentary secretary Alfred Camilleri and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Permanent Representative Richard Cachia Caruana.
