Cleaner Technology Centre awards best performers
On the 25 November 2011, the Cleaner Technology Centre organized the presentation ceremony of the 6th Edition of the Environment Award for Enterprise.
The aim of these awards is to acknowledge the contribution of industry in favour of sustainable development. The awards give recognition to industries or organizations which, through their policies, practices and processes help bring about, social and economic development while reducing the impact of their operations on the environment. Another aim of the awards is to act as a spur for more organizations to take measures in favour of the environment.
In his welcoming speech, Mr Anton Pizzuto, Director of the Cleaner Technology Centre stated that as long as the perception that economic growth and pollution cannot be de-coupled than it is very difficult to achieve sustainable development. The winning enterprises have proven that economic activity together with environmental protection is achievable. Hopefully the awardees would serve as an example to others to follow suit in the quest for sustainable consumption and production.
The environment awards were given in three categories and were presented by Dr Chris Said, Parliamentary Secretary for Consumers, Fair Competition, Local Councils & Public Dialogue
