Recall of first generation iPod nano
Consumer affairs authority recalls first generation MP3 player.
The Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority has received notification of a recall effecting the Apple iPod (1st generation) placed on the market between September 2005 and December 2006. The notification concerns the battery used to power the iPod: infact the manufacturer has determined that in very rare cases, the battery in the iPod nano (1st generation) may overheat and pose a safety risk.
Consumers are advised to contact the respective retail outlet from where the iPod was purchased for assistance as part of the recall process.
The Apple iPod 1st Generation has a black or white plastic front and silver metal back - later iPod models have a metal front and back.
Should consumers have any concerns regarding the safety of the above mentioned products or any other consumer products, they are urged to contact the Technical Regulations Division within the MCCAA on telephone number 2395 2000.
