Registration date for Student Advantage Scheme extended

Through the scheme, students will be able to use the latest version of Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus – which comes at a retail price of €99 - for free.

The deadline for students to register for Student Advantage Scheme has been extended to Monday 17th February 2014.

In a statement issued by the Malta Information Technology Agency (MITA) and Microsoft Malta - the joint partners for the scheme - it was said that the date had been pushed back due to the "very encouraging" number of students to have registered for the scheme.

"So far the number of students who registered to benefit from this scheme has been very encouraging and the registration date is being extended to allow even more students to apply and benefit from this scheme," the statement read.

Through the scheme, students will be able to use the latest version of Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus - which comes at a retail price of €99 for free. Office 365 Education includes applications such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access, works on both PCs and Macs, and is compatible with operating systems such as Windows, Android and iOS.

According to Microsoft, foreign countries also showed an interest and were in contact in order to further understand the approach that Malta adopted to use in their own countries.

Eligible students include all state school students, Giovanni Curmi Higher Secondary students, MCAST students and a good proportion of church school students and independent school students.

State school and MCAST students are advised to check their academic mailbox which ends with the @ilearn.edu.mt (for state schools) or @mcast.edu.mt (for MCAST) domain and click on the Office 365 Mail tab.  In this mailbox, they will find an email from Student Advantage with their personalised code.  Then students are to visit www.mita.gov.mt/studentadvantage where they can insert their personalised code for verification.
