First phase of the eID solution revamp announced
eID users won’t be able to access the online services between Friday 18 and Sunday 20 march.
The first phase of the eID solution revamp will be implemented between Friday 18 and Sunday 20 march, which means that the system will not be available for use between 8pm on Friday and 8pm on Sunday.
During this scheduled downtime, eGovernment services using the eID authentication will not be available, MITA said.
The newly upgraded system will see the provisioning of an upgraded technology infrastructure for better performance, stability and reliability.
“This will allow the government to pursue the next phases of the planned simplification of the user authentication experience,” MITA said.
According to the government’s IT agency, the change will be transparent to general public and the user will not need to change the password to use the upgraded system.
“Identity Malta or any other government representative will never ask for your password,” MITA said.
