Youth tech and innovation fair showcases talent and job opportunities

The government is committed to promote innovation and the creation of an ecosystem that allows new tech start-ups to develop their concepts and ideas, parliamentary secretary for innovation Silvio Schembri said yesterday.  

"The Government is working to ease the difficulties start-ups encounter in taking off with a good idea and turning it into a successful product or service" he said.

Schembri was speaking in Valletta at the inauguration of the National Youth Technology and Innovation Fair organised by the National Youth Council (KNZ). MPs Kristy Debono, David Agius and Chris Said were also present.

He congratulated KNZ for their initiative and their work to bring ideas together, in order to promote technology and innovation amongst youth. 

KNZ President Michael Piccinino said that the aim of the fair – the first of its kind – was to diversify KNZ's work and expose youth talent in order to achieve a better reach-out for young people interested in technology and innovation.

The fair is set up at St George's Square in Valletta and allows young people to showcase their talent in technology, IT and gaming whilst serving as a portal for different work opportunities available.

It features robot and gaming exhibitions, innovative start-ups and youth tech organisations.
