Stepping into Café Goldie is like stepping into a different world. The cool air-conditioning offers respite from the blistering heat outside and the brightly coloured furniture and paintings lift the atmosphere and make you feel instantly relaxed.
Café Goldie seems more like a café you'd encounter in the UK, only better as the food is fresher and touched with that little bit of Mediterranean influence.
Everything is prepared in-house - no ready-made shortcuts - providing the best possible flavours. Try the delicious, freshly baked pastries, home-made pies, soups, sandwiches, salads, quiches and savoury muffins.
For the health conscious there are organic detox teas, freshly squeezed juices and smoothies while those seeking a little bit more of a treat will not be disappointed with Oreo milkshakes and a selection of home-made cakes.
The menu is very limited - just a few dishes on the specials board including one salad, a pasta dish and a more substantial meal. The specials board changes every day and that way you know that everything you are getting is perfectly fresh and prepared that very day.
Owner Cristina Dacutros is always there, preparing food, working the cash and mingling with customers making sure you're experience is flawless.
You can choose to sit and eat there or take your precious morsels back to the office if you're in a hurry.
When it comes time to pay the bill, prices are reasonable - perfect for the every day lunches that are a necessity if you are too busy - or lazy - to prepare your own food in the morning before work.
