Myoka Spas opens Royal Hammam after €150,000 investment

Myoka Spas, Malta’s leading five-star beauty and spa provider, has invested more than €150,000 to add a hammam to its Five Senses Spa at the Hilton Malta.

Myoka Spas, Malta's leading five-star beauty and spa provider, has invested more than €150,000 to add a hammam to its Five Senses Spa at the Hilton Malta.

A bathing retreat spread across 100 square metres, the Royal Hammam provides visitors with a detoxifying and destressing experience originating more than 1,000 years ago in Rome and still used regularly today in Morocco, Turkey and Spain.

The walls and floors of the hammam - literally translated to "spreader of warmth" - are heated with steaming water running through pipes under the surface.

The Royal Hammam was built using only the finest marble and copper from Turkey, carefully selected by leading specialists.

"Myoka Spas is renowned for its five-star service and discerning approach to choosing the best products. For this hammam we've brought down a number of highly experienced hammam specialists from Turkey," said managing director Jean Vella.

This is Myoka's first hammam, or Turkish Bath, in Malta and can be experienced free of charge for guests of the Myoka Five Senses Spa at the Hilton Malta.

However, clients may also undergo a specific detoxifying and exfoliating body treatment for only €55, giving the effect of a chemical peel but without the chemicals.

Guests often combine a visit to the hammam with a relaxing and energizing massage or other luxurious beauty treatments.

Myoka (www.myoka.com and www.facebook.com/myoka.spas) is an award-winning spa operator, recently recognised at the World Travel Awards of 2013 where its spa at Le Méridien St Julian's was voted Malta's leading Spa Resort.
