Government looking at ‘mobile health’ possibility
Health parliamentary secretary confirms that tender for a National Electronic Health Record system will be released.
The government is analyzing the possibility of introducing mental health technology, health parliamentary secretary Chris Fearne confirmed, in response to a parliamentary question by economy shadow minister Claudio Grech.
Mobile health involves the usage of smartphone apps to collect health data, real-time monitoring of patients, and self-monitoring through apps.
In response to another question by Grech, Fearne said that the government is planning to create a National Electronic Health Record that will integrate the clinical details of patients, therefore allowing continuity in patient care.
Despite being pressed by Grech, Fearne refused to provide a timeline as to when the National Electronic Health Record would be completed.
“We’re still preparing the tender documents, after which we will provide timelines,” he explained.
