Malta 8th most popular summer destination among Spanish travellers

According to a recent study conducted by Niumba de Tripadvisor, a leading holiday rental portal in Spain, Malta is amongst the ten most popular destinations for Spanish travellers for the coming summer season.

Placing eighth overall in the global destination ranking, Malta performed better than the United States and Scotland, who ranked 9th and 10th respectively. Spain itself came in first place with Portugal, France, Italy, Andorra, England and Croatia completing the top 10 listing.

The study was based on the interest shown by Spanish users of the booking portal when looking at holiday options for the coming season. 

Acquired by TripAdvisor in 2013, Niumba features more than 230,000 properties globally and is the world’s largest collection of Spanish vacation rentals with more than 120,000 properties in Spain.

Commenting on this report, MTA CEO Mr. Paul Bugeja stated that, “This confirms the positive trend in bookings and the general growth in interest that we are experiencing in Spain. The first quarter of 2016 saw a 100% increase in arrivals by travelers from Spain compared to the same period in 2015. Although this latest survey is based on the users of one portal only, it is positive news and augurs well for the outcome of the summer season from this growth market”.
