Lifter operator cleared of negligence

Clint Farrugia, 21 of Tarxien who works as a mechanical lifter operator was acquitted of any responsibility for the serious injuries sustained by a colleague as they worked on a construction site in Triq il-Wizna, Swieqi in 2008.

Farrugia was acquitted on the basis that the injured party was reckless in not seeing that the concrete slabs that were being lifted were not all singles, and that one was obstructed, causing the lifter to tilt and come crashing onto him.
