Christopher Polidano has lost his appeal against an 11-month jail term.

Christopher Polidano of Qormi was escorted to Corradino Prisons this afternoon, after his appeal to have a jail term imposed on him in 2009 was revoked this morning by Judge Michael Mallia.

Polidano was arrested in 2005 after police discovered a bag containing an amount of heroin and cocaine hidden in a recess of a wall in Anici Street in Qormi.

The man always denied any connection to the drug which was found very close to the bakery where he worked with his family.

He was arrested after the police had acted on reports about drug abuse in a field next to the wall where the drug was found, took the drug and effected a 'controlled delivery' where another bag was placed with a different substance.

After days of observation, Polidano was noticed approaching the wall and fidgeting with the recess.

While the accused always denied any knowledge of the package, and challenged the police to provide concrete evidence linking him to the drugs.

He was sentenced by Magistrate Antonio Micallef Trigona to 11 months in prison and fined €1,000.

His appeal however was thrown out, as the Appeals Court deemed the police officers testimony 'more credible' than the accused.
