Woman found dead off Birzebbuga

Homicide investigators are investigating the death of a woman, who's body was found early this morning in the sea in an area known as 'Wied il-buni' near Birzebbuga.

Initial reports suggest that the woman was discovered by hunters who immediately reported the incident to the police, who have cordoned off the area and called in Civil Protection to assist them in recovering the body. The area where the woman was found is close to the Freeport.

Details into the discovery have not yet been made known, but senior investigators together with forensic experts are on site.

It is unknown if the police are treating the case as murder or an accident.
