Jailed for eight years, fined €23,000 after admitting to drug trafficking
Christian Grech, 28 of St Paul’s Bay, was jailed for eight years and fined €23,000 after admitting before standing trial by jury of complicity in trafficking almost a kilogramme of cocaine.
Grech was arrested in Qawra in 2007 while he waited in his car to meet Ibrahim Koroma, 33, a Liberian national who was to sell him the drug.
Koroma was separately sentenced to nine years imprisonment and also fined €23,000.
Searches in both Grech's and Koroma's cars yielded substantial drug finds, and more drugs and other material was found in their respective homes.
Judge Michael Mallia jailed Grech for eight years and fined him €23,000.
