Car owner wins €16,500 in damages after car is crushed by Freeport gantry crane

The Malta Freeport was ordered to compensate €16,500 to a car owner, who had his car crushed by a gantry crane.

The First Hall of the Civil Court, presided by Judge Joseph Zammit McKeon ordered that Malta Freeport be held responsible for damages caused to a Renault car belonging to Alex Ellul Sullivan, which was crushed by a large gantry crane while it was loading a ship.

In its judgement, the Court held the Malta Freeport responsible for the incident, and acquitted the gantry crane driver from any responsibility.
