Sicilian fined for importing protected turtles
Sicilian pleads guilty to having imported protected turtles in Malta and involvement in importing banned pesticides.
Filippo Mazza, 54 of Ragusa, was fined €500 and his van confiscated after admitting to having imported protected turtles in Malta. Mazza was also charged with involvement in importing pesticides, whose importation was prohibited or limited.
Mazza was also accused of placing these products on the market.
The Sicilian pleaded guilty and was fined €500. The turtles, the pesticides and his van were confiscated.
Inspector Mario Tonna prosecuted.
