Two charged with assaulting Arriva transport officer

Teenagers given probation order and conditional discharge

Two youths from Mosta and Naxxar were this morning charged in front of Magistrate Claire Stafrace Zammit of causing grievous bodily harm to Arriva officer Daniel Seychell and causing property damage in access of €116, on the night of the Notte Bianca on September 28, 2012.

Both youths pleaded guilty to the charges and informed the court that they had reimbursed the damages.

The firs accused, aged 17 from Mosta, was also charged of relapsing. The youth who on the day of the incident was 16 admitted to all charges. Magistrate Claire Stafrace Zammit ordered that the probation order which the youth is under is renewed for a further three years.

The other youth, an 18-year-old from Naxxar, who at time of the incident was 17, was handed a conditional discharge for a year.

Dr Kenneth Grima and Dr Mark Vassallo appeared as defence.
