Separated parents iron out differences over Easter egg ruckus
The estranged husband of a woman whose family was involved in a brawl dropped all charges against his former father-in-law, after the two sides ironed out their differences.
Tancred de Bono had his car's windscreen wiper damaged after his father-in-law Vincent Pace slammed it, in a brawl over de Bono's daughter being exposed to his partner.
De Bono said that on Easter Sunday of 2010, he drove to Pace's residence to gift his daughter an Easter egg, claiming he had the agreement of his former wife.
When the wife saw De Bono's partner in his car, she insisted that her daughter gets out of the car, so she removed the car's keys from the ignition and called her family for help. In the ensuring ruckus, Pace was accused by De Bono of slamming on his car's windscreen, incurring damages of €989.52.
On his part, Pace admitted to breaking the car's wiper.
On 17 January 2013, the victim informed the court that he and the accused had ironed out their differences and dropped all charges against Pace. The court held that in cases where damages amounted to under €116, the court can only proceed on the complaint of the injured party.
Since the victim was dropping all charges, Magistrate Demicoli declared the case had been exhausted.
