Three men arraigned in court

Three men arraigned in court over separate criminal cases.

Three men were today arraigned in court in three separate criminal cases. In the first case a 26-year-old Eritrean was charged with causing serious injuries to another, unnamed,  foreign national in Ħal Far on 5 December 2012.

Medhane Ghebremedhin Dawit, was also accused of relapsing and was not granted bail by Magistrate Gabriella Vella. He is being kept at the Corradino Correctional Facility.

In the second case a 27-year-old residing at the Hal Far open centre, Somali national, Idris Said Mohammed.

The man was accused of being in possession of a counterfeit passport and for trying to transfer it to another person. He was given a one-year jail term suspended for one year.

The third case involved a man born in Serbia who was handed a two-year jail term suspended for four years after pleading guilty of theft and accepting stolen items.

Zoran Korac, 19, residing in St Paul's Bay, admitted stealing a number of items whose valued exceeds €2,329, from a private residence in Swieqi on 17 and 18 May.
