Aggressive ‘seducer’s’ loose tongue gets bitten off
Man gets four-month prison sentence suspended for a year, for violent sexual assault
A man who attempted to forcefully seduce a Nepalese woman found his match, when his loose tongue was "bitten" by the woman.
Crispin Grima, 35, from Santa Lucia, was arraigned in court under arrest after seeking medical attention when the tip of his tongue was bitten off by Shanti Shresta, 28, from the country of Nepal.
Shresta was walking home through the Testaferrata Street, in Gzira, when an unknown male approached her and called out to her "Hawn, sabiha" (Hey, gorgeous). Moments later, the aggressor attempted to touch her but she pushed him away. At this point, the aggressor grabbed the woman by the throat and forcefully kissed her.
But the second Shresta felt Grima's tongue in her mouth, she fended him off by biting it hard, cutting off its tip. One of the women in the area, notorious for its red-light strip, heard her cries for help and assisted her. Grima, in the meantime, ran away.
The court heard how the police actually found the severed part of the tongue in the street where the incident took place. Duty Magistrate Doreen Clarke held an onsite inquiry.
Grima checked in at the Floriana health centre at 4:38am with a bleeding tongue, where he was medicated and referred to Mater Dei Hospital. There he was arrested.
Grima pleaded guilty to the charge of violent sexual assault, and was handed a four-month prison term, suspended for a year.
Dr Gianella Demarco and Dr Gianluca Caruana Curran appeared for the accused.
