No workers were reported to have been injured when an oil rig tilted to one side at the Palumbo Shipyards.

The incident happened at around 1.45pm when workers were returning from their break. The oil rig is being serviced at the shipyard.

Police sources confirmed that part of the oil rig started to give way but didn't collapse.

Agree with pmurray, it is either like he said , a ballasting bobo or work carried out on the water intake valves without the necessary precautions taken and the work permit, which there should be one, not adhered to. Unlike what happens locally some one would surely be kicked out.

This is clearly a ballasting operation procedure gone drastically wrong and someone's patata on the rig will be in a sling over this ,and it has nothing to do with the shoreside (Palumbo ) workers as this is purely a rig matter. Why not re-name the rig the Noble Pisa?
