18-year-old dies in tragic car accident

An 18-year-old died last night when a car he was traveling in crashed into a tree in Msida Valley Road, Birkirkara.

Police said the young man from Birkirkara was a passenger in a VW Polo, riding in the back, together with a 21-year-old woman and the driver, a 21 year-old man from Hal Ghaxaq.

the incident happened at around 3am. The Polo was heading towards Birkirkara when the driver lost control. According to reports, the car ended up on the other side of the road, hit a sidewalk, flipped and hit a tree. The impact was mostly on the victim's side.

The driver and e female passenger from Naxxar have been hospitalised suffering grievous injuries.
