Police investigating ‘mysterious’ explosion in Mqabba

The Police are investigating an explosion which occurred on Monday afternoon in Mqabba. The police's communication office said the explosion happened in an abandoned quarry behind Triq Torri Vincenti.

No one was injured in this incident.

The police said the incident happened at around 5.30pm. The explosion was also reported by various residents residing in the surrounding localities.

The police are investigating why material used for the production of fireworks was found at the quarry. The explosion reportedly occurred after other waste in the quarry caught fire.
