Jailed for kicking man in the face

Eritrean national imprisoned for nine months after assaulting another foreigner.

A 27-year-old Eritrean was jailed for nine months after being found guilty of grievously injuring another foreign national last year.

On 5 December 2012' Medhane Ghebremedhin Dawit, who resided at the Ħal Far One Centre, kicked Ahmadin Ali Birhanu in his face.

As a result, Ahmadin suffered grievous injuries to his face and neck.

The accused had pleaded not guilty when arraigned in court however admitted the charges during the compilation of evidence. He also admitted to relapsing.

Magistrate Saviour Demicoli sentenced the Eritrean to nine months imprisonment.

Inspectors Carol Fabri and Edel Mary Camilleri prosecuted.  

Legal Aid Dr. Dorianne Vella appeared for the accused.
