Former judge's bribery case extinguished
Court case against former judger formally extinguished after court is presented with death certificate.
Proceedings against former judge Ray Pace have been declared extinguished, seven weeks after his demise.
Today, Magistrate Neville Camilleri declared the case extinguished after the prosecution presented the court with Pace's death certificate.
Pace, 54, was found dead at his private residence in Attard on Sunday morning, 6 May. No evidence of foul play was recorded.
Pace stepped down from the Bench in December 2012 after being charged with bribery and trading in influence.
He denied all charges and the case was not concluded. His resignation wrapped up a 14-year judicial career.
The former judge was the first judge to be assigned family court cases and had also sat on the civil, criminal appeals and Constitutional courts.
Following the extinguishing of procedures, Pace's family can now access the family assets which were frozen by court order.
