Windsurfer in Gozo finds himself in difficulty

A windsurfer who found himself in difficulty in Gozo yesterday afternoon was rescued by members of the Armed Forces Malta. The individual did not require hospital care.

According to the AFM, the incident happened at around 4:30pm when the police requested their help as two surfers found themselves in difficulty.

One of them managed to swim ashore while the other was still in the water.

An AFM Alouette III Helicopter and Search and Rescue boat were immediately dispatched to the area that was confirmed to be between Qbajjar and Ramla l-Ħamra.

Once located, the helicopter winched the surfer to safety. The individual was not in need of hospitalisation.
