Youth damages in-laws’ property, granted bail

Court granted bail to a youth who faces charges of voluntary damaging in-laws property.

Sean Grima, 28 of Santa Lucija, was granted bail after being charged with the voluntary damage of the property of his in-laws in Fgura.

Police Inspector Jurgen Vella told the court how on 3 July at around 8:20pm, the youth went to the residence of his in-laws and smashed the gate at the entrance. While in a drunken stupor the youth shouted abuse at the Spiteri family.

Moments later he vented his anger on the Suzuki vehicle owned by his girlfriend's mother, Rita Spiteri. The youth faced charges of voluntary damage and instilling fear in Alicia, Rita and Vincenzo Spiteri who were in their residence. The police arrested Grima behind the wheel of an unlicensed and uninsured BMW. He was also charged with relapsing.

Magistrate Neville Camilleri granted Grima bail against a deposit of €250 and a personal guarantee of €5,800.

Dr Veronique Dalli and Dr Dean Hili appeared for the accused.
