Jordanian who attempted €270,000 fraud remanded in custody
A man who attempted to defraud two business of a total of €270k has been remanded in custody.
Abdallah Nawafleh, 39, from Jordan, residing in Gzira, was remanded in custody over charges of attempting to defraud two companies of over €250,000.
Inspector Ian Abdilla said the Jordanian had approached Charles Grech Ltd and Red October Co Ltd with the intention of purchasing wines and spirits from the two. The accused demanded credit from the two companies.
Nawafleh asked Charles Grech Ltd for €250,000 worth of supplies. Red October Co Lt was asked for €20,000. However, when the companies checked the Jordanian's business, it resulted in being a fictitious enterprise.
The accused also attempted to defraud Detelina Doneva of a yet undisclosed amount.
Magistrate Claire Zammit Stafrace, remanded the accused, Abdallah Nawafleh, in custody.
